A Little Bit About Us

Let us introduce ourselves we are Robert and Donna Taylor, We live in West yorkshire UK. Our kennel name 'Minaelea' is an anagram of our two girls names Ashleigh and Hannah-Minae, which was granted in 2002. Minaelea Rottweilers is a small hobby kennel only having pups when we are ready to introduce a new member to our family.

We have owned this magnificent Rottweiler breed since 1997 but neither of us are strangers to dogs as neither of us have ever been without a dog since the day we were born. Robert's parents have owned, bred and trained racing greyhounds at a very high competative level since 1969 from a small hobby kennel. Donna's grandparents owned and bred English and Irish Setters from the 1920's even before her mother was born until late 60's. Donna's parents owned GSD's through the 70's & 80's and Donna owned two Dobermans who although had very good pedigrees and where show potential they where never shown and where our much loved pets.

This doesnt include the strays and mongrels along the way or our Staffordshire Bull Terrier 'Ben' who we lost at 10 yrs and our mini wire dachs 'Cybil' who we bought as a second owner and her daughter 'Ginger' who are both now spayed. Also our new addition "Cuidado Sage Szaveta" a beautifull Pumi one of the very few here in the UK.

After learning (and still constantly learning) about this breed after four years, we decided to have our first litter in 2002. From this we kept a bitch and Robert began to show her 'Elsa' who he had plenty of fun with and she taught him a lot. We repeated the mating two years later and kept 'Grace' who Donna began showing and she also taught her a lot. Both bitches gaining stud book numbers making them crufts qualified for life. Then in 2005 we bought our first male show dog 'Denzil' into our home and through endless training and determination Robert campaigned him to his Champion title gaining 3 challenge certificates and two reserve challenge certificates. Our first champion he has set a high bench mark for us.

We have two of ''Denzils''daughters. They are, Varenka Pure elegance At Minaelea 'Lydia', and Minaelea Tiger Lilly 'Ella', to keep our strong foundation going who both have excellent hip and elbow scores. Also in our new addition Graces daughter Minaelea Aurora 'Sienna'.We strive to achieve the 'complete package ' in using the excellent bloodlines, in our already strong pedigrees along with 'Type' and 'Temperament' to enhance what we already have and improve what we don't. We have recently imported a male "Cuidado Blazimbo At Minaelea" from excellent blood lines also having the perfect BVA hip score 0:0 and elbow score 0 to complent our existing pedigrees.

We are extremely proud of all our dogs as they are always so willing to please, and as long as they perform well thats all we can ask of them win or lose thats out of our hands. They will always be first and foremost extremely loved members of our family that live in our household, but also have the option of pleasing themselves if they want to stay out in our super purpose built kennels.

Alot of time and effort is spent with our pups ensuring balanced socialised dogs from an early age. Care is taken to ensure only the very best examples of health, type and temperament of the breed are used in our breeding programme. We do our homework also listen to the advice given to us by the stud dog owner carefully, to see if the mating would gel with the lines we have. Although their is never any guarantee's and always an element of unknowing after any mating.

After owning this breed for 14 years Robert feels the time is right for him to start judging alongside exhibiting. We both have taken the required conformation, hands on assessments, handling courses and writing judging critiques. He has had some appointments for Open shows in England and Scotland and has thoroughly enjoyed them.

We are members of nearly every breed club in the UK and Ireland, and on the commitee of Eastern Counties Rottweiler Club with myself being the Clubs secretary, giving something back to help the breed we love.

We feel honored and privelliged to have such good friends as mentors in our breed in the UK and Overseas, Who have bred many Champions and CC winning dogs in the UK and around the world with over three decades of experience in this breed.

We are continously learning about different aspects of the Rottweiler and its become a great passion to us changing our lives completely. Also to be able to travel to Europe to encorporate some of the best bloodlines in our dogs also see the Rottweiler's exhibited in different countries and seeing dogs in our pedigree and their offspring and siblings. Thus enabling us to build a bigger picture of our Rottweilers here at Minaelea.
